Message from the Dean

Dear Colleagues,

The need for the College to explore ways to generate revenue is greater than at any time in our recent history.  So this year, now, while we still have some one-time money to invest, we’re going to put it to work to support new initiatives that promise to generate new funds beyond those provided by the state and help create a healthier foundation for our future.  During the best of times, the fruits of these efforts will enable us to improve support for students and faculty and to address departmental needs more fully.  During the worst of times, they will help us mitigate the harm of budget cuts.

We’re putting significant money into CHFA’s Revenue Generating Grant Program to support faculty and departmental proposals that can deliver new Revenue Generation directly to our programs.  Proposals are being reviewed already.  “Shovel-ready” proposals are being funded at this time.  Proposals will be continually reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.  Check the due dates on this site.

We seek a wide range of proposals including, but not restricted to, the following genres:

* New revenue-generating C&PE courses.

A new CHFA revenue generation model has vastly increased the incentive within the College (all net growth dollars distributed 100% directly to CHFA departments who are participating in C&PE)

* The creation of new masters, on-line masters programs, and certificate programs.

* Revenue-generating international programs, tapping the unique expertise and networks of CHFA faculty.

* Campus-wide priorities including those that enhance revenue generation.

Departments are submitting proposals to recruit more out-of-state students and some departments and programs are requesting planning grants to write large grants or initiate more demanding programs that hold great promise.  Faculty and staff are proposing increased summer programming, including programs to provide Professional Development Points for educators, lifelong learning for seniors, special arts programs for talented youth, and much more.

All ideas are welcome.  All reasonable proposals will be considered.

To aid those preparing proposals or interested in learning more about different opportunities from colleagues with experience, special workshops have been scheduled and additional ones are in the plans for later this semester and into the spring.

By spending some money on heretofore missing expertise, we are going to significantly improve our marketing and communications profiles to showcase all that we are doing well in order to attract new support and new students.

So, please consider developing a proposal for new revenue generation projects that will benefit our programs.  We look forward to hearing from you.
